Every gym has a training system. It may be as simple as “shadowing” or as complex as their own “university” with videos, seminars and interactivity. But most of our methods involve a “talking head” (presenter) or “firehose” training, blasting the trainee with information important in building their skill level and loyalty. And often we’re disappointed when that information is used for a week and then forgotten as the trainee lapses back into their comfortable default settings.
This session addresses the science and psychology of making learning “stick”, long term, featuring newer, proven ways to ingrain essential education in the minds of our trainees and even longtime staff. And here’s the triple-whammy: It not only applies to training staff, but will help us create more effective education for our students and even ourselves.
