Nutrition in gymnastics has long been a very stigmatized topic that many in the community are afraid to talk about and for many decades, the only times nutrition was discussed for a gymnast was if there was some sort of “problem”. As a result of years of research and practice, it is now known that nutrition is an essential component of building strong, resilient, happy, healthy, high performing gymnasts. Learn about a positive food culture and how to create one in their gym, gain an understanding of sports nutrition basics for gymnasts, understand the role of the coach in nutrition conversations, walk away with conversation starters to have conversations about fueling with parents and/or athletes that are within their scope, and take home strategies to make fueling for performance a priority in your gym.

Join us for this special 2-hour session designed to help you keep your gymnast healthy in mind, body, and soul. Boot Camp: Building a Medical Team features a multidisciplinary panel of Gymnastics Medicine experts who will provide essential guidance on supporting gymnast well-being both now and into the future.

  • Kerry Bair, Registered Sports Dietitian/Nutritionist, will cover fueling needs and how proper nutrition supports performance and recovery.
  • Dr. Alyssa Herrera-Set, Gymnastics Physical Therapist, will demonstrate key injury prevention exercises and techniques.
  • Dr. Elly Hart, Gymnastics Sports Medicine Physician, will review common gymnastics injuries and how to identify them early.
  • Ariana LeBlanc, Gymnastics specific Mental Wellness Provider, will discuss the psychological aspects of gymnastics and how to support gymnasts’ mental health throughout their careers.
