Training load management in sports is defined as monitoring load (intensity and volume of training) and adjusting the load based on the athlete’s response to the training. Training load management has the potential to improve sport performance and reduce injuries in athletes, but this concept has not been tested in gymnastics. We have developed a way to perform training load and wellness tracking in women’s artistic gymnastics and have tested it in developmental and collegiate athletes. We will discuss our initial findings as well as how and why you may want to do this in your own gym.
