Amplitude is key to the successful performance of outstanding gymnastics skills. Because amplitude is one of many characteristics judges evaluate simultaneously, it may not always be judged consistently from gymnast to gymnast and from meet to meet. This session will focus on guidelines and techniques to differentiate elements with a focus on amplitude on all four events.
Eight of OUR gymnasts have appeared on Dancing with the Stars and demonstrated their ability to adapt to a new artistic discipline. The DWTS judges have provided feedback to the gymnasts that can help judges understand the characteristics of artistry, body posture, and musicality when judging Floor Ex. This session will provide examples of DWTS gymnasts and the feedback they received from DWTS judges that can help judges to apply the .30 deduction for artistry. This session was originally developed over ten years ago when only four gymnasts had been on DWTS. It will be updated to include the artistic performances and feedback for all 8 gymnasts: Simone, Suni, Aly, Shawn, Lauri, Nastia, Mary Lou, and even Steve!!
