Mastering Splits: Safe & Efficient Stretching
Saturday All
Session Summary

Splits! Flexibility continues to be challenging for most coaches. Figuring out why an athlete is struggling, maintaining flexibility as they grow, continuing to gain and strength increases. Let’s teach techniques and tricks to make this happen efficiently and safely. With artistry being at the forefront again (yay!), coaches and athletes need to understand how to obtain positions properly (square splits, proper turnout, open straddle) for staying on a beam and adding bonus in dance elements. We will have a comprehensive discuss:

  • ways to start gymnasts out while they are young to learn proper positioning
  • many ways of stretching (the science of it!) for split and straddle position
  • the top 10 most efficient stretching techniques
  • how to spot issues that may not be able to be easily solved by doing more splits:) (joint movement, alignment)
  • exercises for square alignment for dance and beam
  • we will address hip flexors, hamstrings, glutes, adductors, lumbar spine, the hip joints and more!

Interactive- yes! Very! Come ready to do what your athletes will be doing!
