Health for Yourself – And the Kids, Too!
Many of us are retired gymnasts or maybe just feeling the years of long weekends on cement floors. Either way, it is necessary to take care of our own bodies and minds in order to better take care of our athletes. Learn ways to tap into your body and listen for what it needs. Listen to suggestions on self-care, mental health, and when to refer to other professionals. Get out on the floor and try the breathing, stretching, and restorative tools provided throughout the lecture.

Address the System, Not the Symptom
Straighten Your Legs! Cover Your Ears! While these corrections are often important and accurate, they are likely not going to be solved simply by repeating them over and over. Addressing the why and the how are imperative to mastering new skills and minimizing deductions. In order to make real change, the entire skill needs to be analyzed as a chain of actions and reactions within the body and with the equipment. We can use scientific principles to better recognize and understand these patterns and thus help our athletes address their needs.
